Welcome to Kootenai County Fire & Rescue (KCFR). Under the direction of a Board of Fire Commissioners, KCFR has 74 career personnel who are dedicated to the citizens and visitors of Kootenai County. Our professional support staff and emergency services personnel who serve with KCFR are dedicated to the protection of life and property. Working together as a team, we provide quality service and believe strongly in professionalism, collaboration, and accountability. A key strategy for the District is to prevent fires and other incidents through engineering controls, education, and code enforcement; while remaining prepared for many types of emergencies that could happen in our community. In 2016, District personnel completed 631 inspections in our local businesses for fire code compliance and now inspect businesses in our District every two years.

KCFR works with other key organizations to provide our core emergency services; fire suppression and rescue, emergency medical services, fire prevention, public education, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue services such as water and ice rescue along the lakes and rivers we serve. Key partners in the delivery of fire services include other Fire Districts and Fire Departments in Kootenai County and Spokane County, Kootenai County Emergency Medical Services System (KCEMSS), the Cities of Post Falls, Dalton Gardens, Stateline Village, Fernan Lake Village, and Huetter. The District works closely with Post Falls Police Department and the Kootenai County Sheriff.

We are always interested in feedback from our constituents and providing better service.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Fire District by phone at (208) 777-8500 if you can't find what you want or have any questions or concerns. We are here to serve you.
