7/1 – 7/2 – Panel and Chief Interviews

7/8 – 7/12 – Pre-Employment Testing in Post Falls

7/22 – Start of Academy (4-week Academy)

After the application process closes, KCFR will invite the most qualified candidates to a panel interview. Upon a panel interview invite, each candidate will be required to complete our KCFR application. This information will be sent (via email) to each candidate prior to your panel interview.

Salary & Location Information

Effective 10/1/2023:

Starting annual salary for a 56-hour Firefighter/EMT is $65,877

Starting annual salary for a 56-hour Firefighter/Advanced EMT is $67,706

Starting annual salary for a 56-hour Firefighter/Paramedic is $77,920

Kootenai County Fire & Rescue (KCFR) serves the cities of Post Falls, Dalton Gardens, Huetter, State Line Village, Fernan Village, and much of the unincorporated areas of Kootenai County. KCFR consists of a Headquarters (HQ) building, state of the art Training and Maintenance grounds to include a training tower and a brand new live burn facility, and 4 Fire Houses staffed 24/7 (a 5th is coming soon).
