Access Roadway Requirements
Kootenai County Fire & Rescue has requirements for access roadways to residential properties to ensure emergency vehicles can get to and from your residence safely in the event of an unfortunate emergency. Follow the instructions in the Access Roadway Requirements Packet.

Get a Burn Permit
Hand Piled & Machine Piled Logging Slash Burn Permits
Burning shall be ignited early in the day to decrease active burning after dark; pile should be down to burning embers by nightfall.
Residential Yard Waste Permits
Yard waste burning must be conducted during DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY. All fires must be attended at all times and completely out by dark.
Burn Barrel Permits
All burn barrels must be in good condition, off the ground 3-4 inches on non-combustible blocks, a minimum of four 1” vent holes along the bottom sides of the barrel, and have a screen on top with ½ inch max.
Recreation/Cooking Fire Regulations
Recreational fires can either be in a store-purchased, heat resistant bowl on frame, patio fire pit, patio fire stove, or a ground fire pit.
